Tsunami Sorrows

“He was sad, very sad. The storm was getting worse and he knew he could not land his Shin Meiwa US-1 to help out the fishermen in the quickly rising waves below. He was trained to help those in distress and he hoped that they could ride out the storm until he was able to land and rescue them. Tsunami sorrow.”

The Shin Meiwa US-1 is a Japanese designed and built long range amphibious aircraft that is employed by the Japanese Marine Self Defense Forces for Search and Rescue missions. First flown in 1974 the US-1 has been involved in over 500 rescue missions and has saved over 500 lives. An anti-submarine warfare version was also built and is known as the PS-1.

Okinawa T’s is pleased to offer this high quality piece of wearable aviation art portraying a very sad Shin Meiwa US-1 Search and Rescue that is unable to help the fisherman caught at sea in the raging storm below him. This is a beautiful design that captures the classic Japanese style of painting while telling a story of great sorrow.
